This site has been created for the purpose of sharing our Biblical beliefs and practices with our friends, family, and others; things that we have come to know over the recent years through questioning everything about our faith.
I believe everyone, whether they admit it or not, is on a spiritual journey and constantly learning and growing. For me, (Steve) my journey began as a Roman Catholic, then it turned a corner as I became an Evangelical Protestant at age 21. Continuing to look for Biblical answers to the questions of life through the many years of study and research since then, I now consider myself simply a follower of Yeshua (Jesus) as the Son of God, the Messiah (Anointed One).
Though we met in a traditional Christian setting, my wife, Rachel, has joined me on this journey and we are learning to share these truths with our kids, extended family, and friends. We have no formal creed and are affiliated with no specific Christian, Jewish, or Messianic denomination. As shown in these pages, we accept and use the name Yeshua as the English approximation of the Hebrew name of Jesus.
In general, the information presented here at Messiah Believer is based on the premise that the Bible contains the information that our Creator wants people everywhere to know and practice. Since the Bible was written by Hebrew people to Hebrew people, some of the things we do as a family may appear “Jewish.” In a similar way, some of the things we do or believe may appear to be “Christian.”
This site may challenge traditional ways of thinking about what it means to be a follower of Yeshua. Some guiding principles on this site are:
- Keep learning. No one has all the answers and we need to be willing to modify views based on our growing understanding.
- Be obedient to what has been revealed to you. We must recognize our accountability for what we already have learned.
- Be willing to share what you learn with others in patience and respect. We are all at different places in our walk and need to be available to assist others in love when requested.
Much of what you may find on this site is material that has been gleaned from other active sites and ministries around the world. This does not necessarily mean we endorse everything these other groups teach and practice, but that the point in question is one that closely matches what we believe the Bible teaches on that subject. We will always strive to reference the original material in technical areas to ensure you can fully explore these topics on your own for further study.
It is our hope you will find helpful thoughts and information about the Biblical faith to enlighten your own path, and that in questioning and learning these Biblical principles you will be encouraged to become a blessing to others as well!
